CREATES VALUE
ASC IMPACT FORESTRY FUND
The asc impact forestry fund is a German limited partnership (GmbH & Co. KG) that specializes in sustainable forestry and agricultural projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.
With a target volume of around 200 million euros, the fund invests in projects covering an area of more than 150,000 hectares in countries such as Angola, Ethiopia and Congo-Brazzaville.
INVESTMENT STRATEGY
The fund's investment strategy is based on a comprehensive bottom-up approach in which all stakeholders are actively involved in project development. The selection process for potential projects is based on strict criteria that take into account political risks as well as economic and environmental aspects.
A key component of the strategy is the protection of investments through insurance policies from renowned international providers such as MIGA or Chubb. Among other things, these insurance policies cover political violence, currency convertibility and arbitrary government measures.
Projects are selected on the basis of a thorough due diligence process that includes legal, technical, social, environmental and economic aspects. At asc impact, this process is supported by a demanding ESG standard with 180 criteria of its own. This critical benchmark approach forms the foundation of our day-to-day activities.
The fund's future projects aim to achieve resource-saving improvements compared to the original state through modern and sustainable forestry and agricultural techniques. In this way, we are making a significant positive contribution to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
When identifying locations and projects, the economic component of the investment strategy focuses on clear economic indicators that take into account land prices, sales and market potential as well as the cost side. If the criteria are met, locations become not only ecologically and socially, but also economically investable.
